Review:
Pidgin (formerly called Gaim) is an open source multiprotocol all in one messenger client for Windows and Linux. Pidgin is compatible with AIM, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu and Zephyr networks.
In light, the users of Pidgin can communicate simultaneously with a friend connected on Windows Live Messenger, another on IRC, another on Yahoo Messenger; etc Pidgin supports many the functionalities of these various networks, like the transfer of file or the messages in absence.
Pidgin is however further proposing functionalities, like you to inform, send a message, to play a sound or to launch a program when one of your specified contacts goes away, returns, or connects. Pidgin still include/understand a great number of plug-ins funny or useful, such as for example the replacement of abbreviations by true text.
A free, universal and perfect messenger client if your friends are disseminated throughout the world and the networks!
