Review:

Wubi allows you to install Ubuntu directly from Windows without taking risks with your system. Wubi is the easiest way to try Linux and it allows you to install / uninstall your Ubuntu distribution as any other Windows program.

To install Linux you must dedicate a partition of your hard disk drive and achieve a dual boot if you are already using another operating system. But the less practical, not knowing what to do, often has to abandon the idea to try. But to install Ubuntu Linux with Wubi, it’s easy. Enter configuration information: install location, reserved disk space, language, user account settings and go grab a coffee, and when you are back, Ubuntu will be ready for you.

The next step is download automated operating system Linux, which will be the actual installation. Completed this phase, to turn on your computer you can choose whether to start Windows or Linux. Wubi downloads alone disk image corresponding to your device and starts the installation in the wake. You can choose between different versions of Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Xubuntu or Mythbuntu).

Main advantage of Wubi: avoid partitioning and boot manager configuration operations. Ideal for beginners because it avoids anything manipulation on sensitive elements of the system. To uninstall, just go through the Add/Remove Programs menu of Windows Control Panel. Very Simple.

Once installation is complete, a new Ubuntu item appears in the Boot Menu. The performance is identical to those of a typical installation except for slightly slower disk read/write operations.  Apart from the absence of hibernation for the prolonged sleep updates feature, you get a fully operational distribution.

Wubi casts a comprehensive look at the Ubuntu Linux without risk. Wubi is running although slower than a normal Linux system, but otherwise amazingly well done his job.
