Review:
Did you know that there is a free software to draw architectural designs and 3D models of buildings and objects? I’m not teasing. I know that the 3D modeling softwares are extremely expensive. Fortunately big giant developed a program Google SketchUp, a basic alternative to 3D Studio Max and Maya, but quite satisfactory. And above all totally free.
The top bar shows all the available tools for the creation of three-dimensional models: Geometric shapes, rubber, zoom, compass to rotate elements, tape measure, and various display modes. Google SketchUp guides you step by step in every interaction with the interface, giving you useful tips and explaining the function of every single tool. And I was enough to understand how it works and to make a template if not astonishing, at least decent.
One of the most heartening is that Google SketchUp can predict where you want to close one or more lines, helping you save time and effort. The palettes shadow helps you to easily apply realistic shadows. Palettes are very rich Materials: contains more than one hundred default objects, between vegetation, metals, glass and so on. Many other content, including pre-packaged templates are downloadable for free from official website simply by selecting get model. You can place your finished models in Google Earth, share them with others by posting them to the 3D Warehouse or print hard copies.
Although it lacks some of the advanced features of its rivals, Google SketchUp provides a simple and refreshing design approach and 3D design.
