If you are looking for a Linux distribution that allows you to work with few system resources, with old hardware and with great power, the latest version of Salix can be your distribution. Download Salix Live 13.0 that combines Slackware and Xfce desktop environment to give security, stability and speed.

Live CD allows you to start using it without having to format the hard disc, installed packages or the operating system. To start using it, just download the ISO (approx. 640 MB) image and burn it to a CD. Restart your computer with Live CD and you can log on with Salix Live, connect to the Internet, talk to your friends, edit photos or create documents. And if you feel comfortable working with it, then you can install it on your hard disc.

If you are a user of Slackware (one of the most difficult distribution to use, but without doubt is one of the best), you will find a very similar distribution that integrates some changes in Xfce desktop. Salix Live has full support for Slackware software and users can benefit from Slackware repositories. Salix Live can work with ext3, ext4, JFS, ReiserFS and XFS file systems. In this release I recommend that you use ext4 file system, as you will have more information to any problems you face.
