If you’re looking for an alternative to WinZip, ZipGenius is a powerful and free compression tool for Windows operating systems. All this is combined with an interface that dispenses maximum simplified explanations and presentations, so that anyone can perform tasks without difficulties.
Custom View
When you open the application, you are received by a wonderful welcome screen that invites you to explore options, features and your own files. Appeal is visual, taking it for a system of similar aid to the one of applicatory as the Nero, in which only the desired tasks are pointed so that the program takes account of everything.
Maximum Compression
As in other applications, to create new archives you can choose among various compression ratios (some squeeze more, but conversely consume more time to finish the task). They are:
- No Compression: without compression, serves only to organize
- Minimum
- Medium: chosen as default for quick operations
- Maximum
- Brutal: similar to the technology of competitors, exceeds the normal rates through unique compression techniques that are not always compatible with other formats.
Other options available at the time you create a compressed archive by ZipGenius are encryption, inclusion of subfolders, adding hidden system files and a custom signature which contains name, e-mail address, personal page, creation date, description and even an image.
Backup
ZipGenius is also the tool for the rapid creation of backups. By a simple menu, you choose whether to backup a file in your system folder, documents, pictures, music, Windows and more. Even more surprising is that the backup of e-mail accounts, Favorites and contacts is a click away.
Without Limitations
Another differentiator of ZipGenius to its competitors is that it is entirely free, with free license for commercial use, home, educational and other purposes. All functions are unlocked and remain that way, how many times you use it.
And, while welcoming you at the Welcome screen already with your name, the program welcomes by privacy, not collecting any data type of your machine! Another thing that you do not see in ZipGenius is advertising, abolished by the developers.

ZipGenius is totally free, it’s at least fascinating, despite the lack of full support for Windows Vista, the absurd amount of features and functions that have been implemented. It is no exaggeration to put it to another application in the same category; WinRAR.

After updated began appearing bugs that didn’t exist in the other versions. It sometimes does not compress or decompress right.

An excellent program, very simple and easy to use. Does everything what WinRAR proposes. And in addition everything is free.

This program is fabulous, supports all file compression formats and even comes with a program to cut a file into several parts to fit on floppy disks or CDs.
