Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1

Review:

Mozilla Thunderbird is a mail client of the Mozilla Foundation, of great quality and one of the main competitors of Microsoft Outlook program. Possessor of a quite simple visual, Thunderbird is also owner of advanced resources for those who want to send and receive e-mail directly from their desktop. With it, you can manage multiple accounts (including Gmail); saving drafts, attach files, etc. It also has spell checker, support for inclusion of images, tables in your posts and much more.

A Great Alternative

The new version of this excellent e-mail client carries several innovations. Among them, can be cited message markers (similar to what exists in Gmail) and the possibility to browse through the message history accessed through the “Back” and “Next” buttons on the toolbar, as in a browser.

There is a search tool that will allow you to find emails by just typing a few words and choosing how they should be fetched: recipients, subject, body text or everything. For those who need to perform the same searches regularly, Thunderbird saves them all to be accessed quickly in the future.

Whenever you receive a new message, the program sends a short notice that appears in the corner of the screen informing about the sender, subject and the beginning of the text.

Another interesting feature is its ability to create message templates, ideal for those who need to send the same email several times.

No More Spam

With improved anti-spam tools, Mozilla Thunderbird has everything to send you away from those pesky advertising messages. Besides possessing own mechanisms, the e-mail client can also be used with spam filter of your provider, sending all these unwanted messages to a specific folder.

More Protection

According to developers, in this new version Thunderbird is even safer, with improvements to anti-phishing that will alert you whenever an attempted coup is identified, including advising you of the existence of links that will lead you to destinations other than those indicated in the message.

Keeps Getting Better

Already in version 3.0, a series of new tools had been deployed in Thunderbird. Now these features get more speed and serious issues are now fixed.

Tabs

Similar to Mozilla Firefox browser, Thunderbird also earns tabs by double-clicking or by pressing “enter” on a message will open in another tab.

When you click on the messages, they will open in background tabs. Another innovation is the maintenance of tabs, which are saved and reopened if the program is closed unexpectedly.

Internal Searches

A resource that was very common in recent years is the ability to perform searches for messages stored in your e-mail account from the main interface. E-mail clients followed the same path, but until recently there were no satisfactory results. Now with the update, Thunderbird is the right place and makes the internal search much faster.

Automatic Configuration

If you have no idea what a (or how to configure a) POP3 or SMTP server, the Mozilla Thunderbird becomes perfect so that you can use an e-mail client with any complicated configurations.

Most Dynamic Filters

Another novelty of Mozilla Thunderbird is the presence of new and more dynamic search filters. When you perform a search for messages, you can filter your search by sender, recipient, subject or even by the text of the message. You can also order them by subject, sender and sent date.

New Message Toolbar

The toolbar has been redesigned and now includes reply, forward, archive, junk and delete buttons. It can also be customized to better fit to different user profiles manager.

Add-ons Manager

Through the Add-ons Manager, integrated with Thunderbird, you can find and download add-ons to the software. These add-ons include Extensions, Themes and Plug-ins, everything to let Thunderbird even more personalized.

Contact List

The contacts that are already on the list are marked with stars and can be edited at any time. When a message is received from unknown sender, you can add them to list in a quick and simple way. The new version of Thunderbird brings even the new Birthdays calendar and allows adding photos to users.

It’s always nice to know the Mozilla Foundation. Both the Firefox browser and the Thunderbird e-mail client show significant improvements with each new version released. Thunderbird shows clearly that aims to be the most used around the world and has features for that.

The new filters and new search modes are more rapid and complete. Without bugs in use, the software win even more points for being free for all users. Leverage to try another great tool created by the developers of Mozilla.

Simply the best of all, only advise you to read and search for help on how to make good use of this program, it is too much, you can also add a calendar tool (lightning) which is excellent, gives to open several e-mail accounts at the same time, only those who really uses this program knows how much it is exceptional.

Always used Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook recently. But even with my provider, all two were falling. Suspicious, I used Thunderbird. But happy surprise!!!!! It’s great, fantastic, wonderful, great, fast, well organized and much more. The Mozilla team is to be congratulated. Microsoft? Never again.

Never seen anything like it. To configure Hotmail, you only need to provide ID and password and remaining Thunderbird configures itself, was something so magical and automatic. Best of all.

After a while using this program, I have to come back here and tell that it is fantastic. Never again need to go on Hotmail page to read my emails. It is very practical. You can change the background color of the message. It is pretty cool.

Times ago I tested an earlier version of this program and didn’t like. I went back to Windows Live Mail. This time was different! Thunderbird has improved so much that made me to uninstall Microsoft email client from my PC. It is now very stable, fast and with an incredible ease of operation. Thanks Mozilla.
