Emsisoft Emergency Kit is a package with various programs to resolve problems on your computer. It scans files for viruses, malware and also removes infected files and registry entries. The program has a database of more than 4 million known dangers and requires no installation. So you can copy it on a USB stick and run all the tools you need.
Emsisoft Emergency Kit is developed by the same team that made the HiJackFree and is compatible with Windows XP and later versions.
Interface and Use
Emsisoft Emergency Kit comes in a compressed zip file format. Therefore, you have to extract the content where you prefer, including on a USB drive to have the package always at your hand.
Run the file start.exe to access the main menu that lists the four tools. You just need to click on that you want to use to access the window with details and options. For example, Emergency Kit Scanner has configurable update feature, security status of your computer, PC scanner, the list of quarantined objects and different configurations.
Each tool can be accessed directly, without requiring Emergency Kit main window. Commandline Scanner and Emergency Kit Scanner executables also lie in the same main folder and call themselves EmergencyKitScanner and CommandlineScanner. Other executables of Hijack Free and BlitzBank lie in the Run folder.
Emsisoft Commandline and Emergency Kit Scanner
These are tools that search for viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, worms, dialers, keyloggers and other malicious programs. All malware identified are moved to quarantine or deleted permanently.
There are four types of scans:
- Quick Scan, which examines active programs, spyware traces and TrackingCookies.
- Smart Scan, which scans your most important system files and folders.
- Deep Scan, most thorough, but more time-consuming.
- Custom Scan, you choose which scour.
The scan can be performed through a GUI or command line, whatever your preference, the tool does not lose anything. It is worth mentioning that commandline scanner is suitable for advanced users.
HiJack Free
This tool is intended for advanced users who need to detect and remove malware manually. With it you can manage all active processes, services, drivers, auto executions, open ports, hosts file entries and more.
In addition to defining the priority of each process, you have different options to delete completely, delete only the reference and make a backup to prevent future complications.
BlitzBlank
This tool erases files, registry entries and drivers before Windows starts. This allows you to eliminate advanced threats that can’t be deleted with the running system.
