Quicksys DiskDefrag precisely reorganizes and groups all data contained in hard disk. Quicksys DiskDefrag is a software different from most that populate the category. It has options which are not present in other programs, such as the individual view of fragmented files and disk regions. Moreover, it is totally free.

How to Use

After installation, open the program and click the drive on which you want to verify the need to defragment. Quicksys DiskDefrag will do a prior scan and shows some information.

Click the “Analyze” button to completely diagnose hard drive data. After a few seconds, you will see a chart into blocks in the lower right area, containing a summary of data on the hard drive. You will also see statistics as the number of existing files, folders and the amount of fragmented data. A legend in color shows the data types displayed in the diagnosis, which may be in the sequence in which they appear, free space, files, directories, fragmented files, moved files, locked files and master file table (MFT).

Once the analysis is done, click “Defrag” and “Optimize” button which starts the defragmentation task, and disk optimization. You may have noticed that there is a down arrow on the button above. Click it to see additional options. You may also request that Quicksys DiskDefrag make only disk defragmentation without optimizing, or only the latter rather than defragment. Anyway, the recommended action is to do the both defragmentation and optimization.

Additional Options

Quicksys DiskDefrag improves the performance of hard drive, pasting files that are smashed on disk and fix them so that the device takes less time to find what you need to be accessed. You can also set priority for different programs but use this option cautiously because other programs may become unstable if you increase the priority of some programs.

Tip: When using any type of defragmentation and optimization tool, close all other programs and allow the computer to work because it can mess around with files that are being used, which makes the process slower and inefficient. Thus, prefer to use Quicksys DiskDefrag when you are absolutely sure that you don’t need your PC.

Another interesting option is turning off computer after defragmentation is done. Very useful for those who want to defragment the disk at bedtime, but don’t want to leave their PC switched on all night.
