How to Stream YouTube Videos in VLC Media Player

VLC Media Player is a free and open source media player that can play practically every format. It doesn’t require any additional codec to play different media files, as demanded in the bundled Windows Media Player. It became even better because we can play YouTube videos or any other streaming video with it by just entering video stream URL. Apparently it is a novelty, or if it was available earlier and had not disclosed. At least in version 1.1, I have tried it and it works very well.

But what is the interest to play YouTube video in VLC Media Player if YouTube is already doing?

This feature is very handy if you have trouble viewing videos in browser such as due to Flash Player plug-in. Even if you do not have any problems, it adds more complete display options to which we have on YouTube.

To do this, Go to Media > Open Network Stream and paste the link of video stream. Then you click on Play button. This will cause YouTube video playing in VLC Media Player.

An interesting feature, but should be improved a bit by adding an integrated web browser. So, you no need to open a Web browser, Search for YouTube video and then paste the link into the player.
