Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 is the new version of one of the most acclaimed tools for detection and removal of malware and viruses. All problems of the previously released beta version have been corrected and the final version is now more stable.
The program interface is very elegant and is organized into tabs. The first tab, “Protection Center” displays information about the items that were scanned, including separating the threats found in categories. There is also an option to protect your files, private data, OS files and different applications.
Under “Scan” tab, you find the options for scanning for viruses. You can scan your entire computer or just a particular directory on your computer by selecting or deselecting the folders that you want to apply the function. You can perform a quick check, depth or only in areas vulnerable to certain programs. You can track the progress and the final report is displayed including the number of files scanned and infected.
The “Update” section is referring to the updates of the program, thus ensuring that your computer is secure even against the newly discovered plagues. When you perform an update, its progress is displayed via a bar graph and displays the speed of update. On this tab, there is an option called “Virus Activity Review” that, if selected, directs you to a page where information from the latest threats appear encountered by the Kaspersky. On the last “Tools” tab, program brings additional tools such as Rescue Disk, Privacy Cleaner, Vulnerability Scan, System Restore and Browser Configurations to protect your computer.
