Google Chrome Frame 6.0.472.63
What do you do if the web browser market is dominated by one player, which is not necessarily the best option, and want to implement a technology for the web? There are basically two ways; adapting the technology to the browser or create an intermediary that makes it to work.
Google has taken the second way to create Google Chrome Frame for Internet Explorer and thus make Google Wave to work in that browser. This is essentially a plug-in for Microsoft’s browser that puts the Chrome engine within the bowels of Windows Explorer. The way that users will be presented with the option to install Google Chrome Frame, will be when accessing Google Wave, as they are about to send new invitations to test the new service still in beta. If you want to Wave, install the plug-in or change your browser.
Another important point is that once installed Google Chrome Frame, all pages will still use the IE engine. The only ones that use the Google engine are those that explicitly ask for it. This explains perfectly that Google Chrome Frame is a tool used to Wave, and not an attempt to cannibalize Internet Explorer. In fact, they had intended to create a plug-in for IE to just make some HTML5 features you need, allowing access to users of older browsers to new technologies. You can download Chrome Frame from the project website.
