ICQ was the most popular application of the instant messaging a long time ago. The rise of MSN Messenger changed it, but the veteran remains competitive and still has a great community of users and repute. The main new thing of this version 7 is the integration of social networks. It is enough to connect your ICQ account with Facebook, Digg, Youtube or Twitter, and the updates of all these sites arrive directly on your ICQ window.
The installation is somewhat intrusive: ICQ 7 to change your default search engine, your homepage and installs its toolbar. So proceed with custom installation to prevent these harmful changes. The interface is able to be personalized with skins. All channels of communication can be found in like text, vocal, video conference, sending of SMS etc. The Follow function enables to send your messages towards your cell phone when you leave your station. One also appreciates the orthographical corrector and the translation tool motorized by Babylon.
ICQ 7 leaves an excellent impression. It is damage that it is not compatible with Windows Live Messenger; impossible to import its contacts or Yahoo Messenger contacts. The interest is reduced, unless your friends put themselves at ICQ. The new additions in ICQ 7 are nice but it’s too late and I doubt that there is not any strong reason for people to switch back to ICQ if they are already using alternative aggregators or they’re updating their content with social networks individually.
