Final Version of Firefox 4 Will Be Released On March 22

Mozilla Firefox Final Version of Firefox 4 Will Be Released On March 22

In terms of numbering of versions (if that means anything), Firefox is behind all of its major competitors; as Chrome is in 10.x, Safari in 5.x, Internet Explorer in 9.x, Opera in 11.x and on March 22 the Mozilla browser should finally reach its fourth final version.

Exactly a week ago, Mozilla released the first (and perhaps only) RC version of Firefox 4. Like any Release Candidate, it could already be considered final, but is placed in the hands of developers and beta testers one last time to make sure there is no more serious bug preventing its release.

The date of the March 22, next Tuesday, was given by Damon Sicore, Senior Director of engineering of the Mozilla Foundation. According to him, the reception of Firefox 4 RC1 was very good and now it is time to turn the key and launch soon the new browser, which has suffered successive postponements in its course of development. Firefox 4 will be released simultaneously for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
