HDD Guardian is a free tool for windows that monitors the health of your hard disk and alerts you in case of impending failure, temperature or critical parameters change of the hard disk.
When you run the HDD Guardian it provides an overview of the health of your hard disk, with information such as the error rate, total disk usage in hours, the temperature of the hard disk and various other useful information that enables you to take the necessary measures to safeguard your hard disk.
“General Informations” tab displays useful information about your hard disk, such as manufacturer name, device model, serial number, firmware version, HD storage capacity, etc. With “Smart self-tests Logs” you can test the hard disk. You can run the quick test (approx. 2 min), the extended test (approx. 50 min) and test offline, which collects data for more than 1 hour. The details of the tests and logs can be viewed in the “General SMART Values” tab and “Smart Error Log”.
By default, HDD Guardian displays an alert in the system tray when a failure occurs, when the hard disk temperature is above 50°C and when any monitored parameter undergoes change. You can set the parameters for monitoring the hard drive from the menu “File > Monitoring”.
In the menu “File > Sharing” you can share the data collected by HDD Guardian and enable monitoring of hard disk from other PCs on the network, which can be useful for system administrators.
