MetroTwit – Twitter desktop client for Windows
MetroTwit is a sophisticated, but simple to use desktop Twitter client for Windows. Based on the Windows Phone 7 Metro interface, MetroTwit has a clean and elegant interface. With it you can view and manage your timeline, send direct messages, respond to your followers, see current trends, categorize tweets, favorite tweets, retweets and more.
To use all available resources on MetroTwit, the first thing you need to do after installing it is log into your Twitter account to authorize MetroTwit to access it using a Pin code. After authorizing MetroTwit to access your Twitter account, you will see three panels containing the tweets of your friends. The panels show the name and the user’s avatar, the message, the time of posting and allow you to reply, retweet and send a direct message. In addition, links and hash tags are clickable.
You can also add or remove the panels. The (+) button appears in the lower left corner of the screen lets you add more panels (public tweets, Favorites, my tweets and my retweets). All panels are updated automatically by MetroTwit, but you can also manually update them by clicking the Refresh button available in the lower left corner of the screen.
Under panes you find the box to post new tweets. As you type text, the number of characters is displayed and if you exceed the limit of characters, you can use TwitLonger. MetroTwit displays real-time notifications in system tray. From the settings window you can change the theme of MetroTwit, configure alerts, the update interval of the timeline, choose the URL shortening service, etc.
