Canonical Shows the Power of Ubuntu Unity

As you can see in the video, the performance of Ubuntu 10.10 Unity (Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition) on a tablet PC is awesome. With multi-touch gestures everything is under control and it seems that there is no problem in normal use. The only thing is that it can cost you learn all the gestures.

The truth is that, personally, I was very surprised to see Ubuntu on a tablet. Who knows, maybe this could be the signal to start appearing tablets competitors. What do you think?… Read More

Linux becoming a threat to Windows in the enterprise

The Linux Foundation released a report today that shows Linux implementations growing within large companies over the next five years. According to PC World, the full report included data from 1900 respondents. Among the full set of 1900 companies, 76% said that they would be adding more Linux servers in the coming year. Only 41% claimed that they would be increasing their Windows server implementations. If that isn’t impressive enough, the five-year view looks even better for the open source operating system. Google and TU Braunschweig independently develop self-driving cars

There’s a Toyota Prius in California, and a VW Passat halfway around the globe — each equipped with bucket-shaped contraptions that let the cars drive themselves. CMU and Stanford engineers have designed a programmable package that can drive at the speed limit on regular streets and… Read More

On the tenth day of the tenth month in the tenth year (read: today) Ubuntu Linux has hit its 10.10 revision, though it’s mostly more of the same. There’s also full multitouch support, if you’ve got… Read More

Half of Microsoft’s employees aren’t Ballmer fans

Microsoft employees have had a rough time in the last few years, Vista wasn’t the success they’d hoped for, Windows 7 was, KIN flopped, and so on. It’s a rollercoaster ride, and probably quite frustrating for those softies that want to see Microsoft succeed. CNNMoney.com reports that an ongoing survey of over 1,000 Microsoft employees shows that many recent failures may be being blamed internally on Microsoft’s CEO. In the survey, only half of the respondents believed that Ballmer’s performance was satisfactory.
