Bing-powered search US market share up 6%; Google down

It would appear that Google’s claims that Microsoft was stealing search results from them has not stopped anyone from using the service.

In results published today, Bing.com went from 10.60% market share in December 2010, up to 12.81% market share just last month, January 2011. That’s an increase of 21% month-to-month. In the same time Yahoo! search was down four points, but overall Bing-powered search (which operates Yahoo! and Bing) was up from 25.77% to 27.44%, a total increase of 6%.

Mozilla plans to release Firefox 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0 in 2011

Mozilla is planning to release four new versions of its open source browser by the end of this year. That means that Firefox 4.0, Firefox 5.0, Firefox 6.0, and Firefox 7.0 are all slated to ship in 2011.

The four new versions is just one of the company’s goals for this year. Here are seven points that the company currently has listed as its Product Priorities for 2011 on its Firefox/Roadmap wiki page:

Bing Launches Improved Image Search

Today Microsoft announced a big update for Bing’s image search, which now searches for trending topics and related images for your query. This is Microsoft’s first major redesign to Bing images since it launched last year. Goo.gl links generate new attacks on Twitter

A new worm is spreading links with malicious code through legitimate accounts on Twitter. Links use Google URL shortener and lead the users to a fake antivirus. According to the Sophos, users who click on the link are directed to the page of an antivirus solution called “Security Shield”. In fact this antivirus is a malware, identified as “Troj/FakeAV-CMG” and can be easily detected by legitimate protection programs.
